Jack Elliot Stefansson

Jack Elliot Stefansson was birthed naturally at 3:02pm, Sunday, January 16, 2011 after 22 hours of intense labor. Brittany will not be making that mistake again.

Not only was Jack 9 pounds 9 ounces at birth, but his presentation was compound: his right arm and hand were wrapped around his head, which is 14.5" in circumference.

For the entire first day of his life, his hands were up by sides of his face. He was ready to have a 1920s style boxing match. He looked like this when we put him down in his crib for his first night's sleep ever:

He was still like this in the morning when he woke up. Jack, Brittany, Skinner and I feel very lucky to have so many people in our lives who care about us and are excited about Jack. I'm sorry if I haven't responded to your texts and phone calls; we have been working hard to bond with Jack and figure out how to be parents. It isn't easy.

  1. Thanks for the photos and commentary. Jack is an absolutely gorgeous baby and you will soon forget what a hard time he gave you :-) The first few days are tiring, but Brittany will be a fabulous mom and Alex will be a great dad. Try to relax and hold Jack as much as you can. We love you all as ever, Grandpa and Grandma Pedone.
